Grieving Breastfeeding

Writer's picture: Nasreen AllenNasreen Allen

Breastfeeding your baby is one of the most intimate times you'll experience in life. You're developing a true connection which is not only nourishing your baby but providing all those lovely feel good hormones for you. And if you have just one child you're nursing, this time can be peaceful and feel like an escape.

Of course, at some point, the nursing ends. Whether the end came due to schedule or baby naturally weening, you may experience a loss, and that is perfectly normal.

As your body returns to a state of pre-nursing, your hormones will be influx and start to shift. You may feel like you need to cry; I know I did. Whatever emotions arise for you during this time, honor them and sit with them. You have the permission to carve out time for yourself to grieve this loss. You always have permission to feel.

Feeling all the feels,

Nasreen 'Nikki' xx
